Writing Believable Dialogue

Do you feel like your characters are struggling to speak? In this class we will discuss writing dialogue that doesn’t sound clunky or robotic. We will examine various story aspects that can influence your dialogue, such as setting or character. A portion of this class will also touch on writing bilingual dialogue and how to avoid sounding like random words were shoved into a sentence, with real, published examples provided. We will also do a live edit together as a class. Students will be asked to spend 20 minutes eavesdropping in a public place (ethically, of course!) and be prepared to discuss what they notice.
