
This class is designed to help you create new poetry, drawing from prompts and model poems. Receive structured writing time during class and additional prompts to respond to outside of class. Come away with new work as well as insights on craft elements such as form, rhythm, line breaks, and more.

Details: Creating New Poetry - August 2026 takes place Mondays August 10, August 17, August 24, August 24, August 31, September 7, and September 14 from 6:30-8:30pm remotely online via Zoom.

Format: Craft and generative workshop with writing in and outside of class.
Location: This class takes place remotely online via Zoom.
Size: Limited to 14 participants (including two scholarship recipients).
Suggested Sequence: Follow this class with a craft and/or generative poetry workshop, a feedback course, or a publishing course.

Carrie George is a co-editor of "Light Enters the Grove: Exploring Cuyahoga Valley National Park Through Poetry." Her chapbook "Unbecoming" won the 2024 Flume Press chapbook prize. She is the recipient of an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award, and her work has appeared in DIAGRAM, Hayden's Ferry Review, The Florida Review, and elsewhere.
