Craftopia 2: Taking Inspiration from Books on Writing

In this class we'll read one craft book before each session. During class time, we'll discuss the book, and then work on exercises inspired by the content. As follow-up, students will expand on and refine their in-class work to turn in by the next class, and receive feedback from the instructor.We'll be reading the following books:

• Never Say You Can’t Survive, Charlie Jane Anders
• How to Write an Autobiographical Novel, Alexander Chee
• The Writing Life, by Annie Dillard
• Daemon Voices, Philip Pullman

‍Details: Craftopia: Taking Inspiration from Books on Writing with Mary Grimm takes place Saturday, October 17, October 24, November 7, and November 14 (skipping October 31st) from 1-3 pm remotely online via Zoom.

‍Prerequisites: Any emerging level fiction/nonfiction/poetry writing course

‍Genre: Nonfiction/Fiction/Poetry

‍Level: Intermediate

‍Format: Reading seminar with elements of generative workshops with in-class feedback.

‍Location: This class takes place remotely online via Zoom.

‍Size: Limited to 14 participants (including scholarships).
