The First Person Narrator: Developing a Distinctive and Authentic Character Voice

Make sure your first person character can move your story along. This course is for writers with an idea for a character already in place or writers that are ready to invent a character. Throughout the six weeks, you will "meet" and define your character, get inside the physicality of your character, and develop your character's voice. This course includes discussion, in-class writing activities, group sharing, and mini "homework" assignments.

Details: The First Person Narrator: Developing a Distinctive and Authentic Character Voice takes place Wednesdays April 5, April 12, April 19, April 26, May 3, and May 10 from 7-9pm in person at Lake Erie Ink, 2843 Washington Blvd, Cleveland Heights, OH 44118.

Level: Emerging

Format: Generative workshop with writing in class and outside of class and group sharing.

Location: This class takes place in person at Lake Erie Ink, 2843 Washington Blvd, Cleveland Heights, OH 44118.

Size: Limited to 12 participants (including scholarships).

Suggested Sequence: Follow this class with another generative fiction writing workshop or a feedback course.

Scholarships: Two scholarship spots are available for this class for writers in Northeast Ohio. Apply by December 1.

Dahlia Fisher

Dahlia Fisher (she/her) is a writer, blogger, artist, feminist, and proud mom of three. She is also a seven-time produced playwright and writes articles for Northeast Ohio Parent Magazine. In her current role with the Maltz Museum, Dahlia developed two children's books. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in theater, with a minor in writing, and a Master of Arts in contemporary communications.
