Chad Bilyeu is a 50-year-old Black American writer, historian, and photographer, born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, who has been living in Amsterdam for 16 years. In 2018, he began writing and self-publishing an award-winning comic book based on his life as a foreigner, aptly titled CHAD IN AMSTERDAM. Currently, Chad is working on his first long-form autobiographical graphic novel, THE RE-UP.

Book one of THE RE-UP is illustrated by renowned Dutch children's book illustrator Juliette de Wit; book two of THE RE-UP is illustrated by acclaimed Serbian designer and illustrator Iva Spasojević. THE RE-UP details Chad’s halcyon days working and studying at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where he, unbeknownst to most, also sold copious amounts of drugs (mostly weed, back when it was illegal and exciting).
