Alex Ashbrook

Alex Ashbrook is an English and fiction instructor at Cleveland State University and a teaching artist at Lake Erie Ink.

Alex Ashbrook is an English and fiction instructor at Cleveland State University and a teaching artist at Lake Erie Ink. He graduated from CSU (as part of the Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts consortium) where he was editor-in-chief of the university’s literary journal, Whiskey Island. Last year, his short story, “Corpse Flower on the Cusp of Bloom” won the Leonard Trawick Prize and he was awarded a full scholarship to attend the 2022 Juniper Summer Writing Institute based on sections of his thesis novel, Long Lines at Nostalgia Park. Alex makes music under the moniker Sharkey Barcus and has been featured in Scene Magazine and Cleveland.com. He currently lives in Ohio City.
