Novel Writing: Beginning, Middle, and End (FULL)

With:
D.M. Pulley

NOTE: This class is now full and we are no longer accepting registrations. Sorry! In the meantime, we invite you to check out our other offerings, sign up for our newsletter, and become a member to be the first to hear about newly added classes.

Throughout this interactive six-week writing workshop, D.M. Pulley outlines the creative novel writing process from where it starts with the spark of an idea through the months of drafting to where it ends with letting it go into the submission process. Like every character, each story has an arc that Pulley will discuss in-depth including the inciting moment, character development, plotting, heart-pounding revisions, and the tearful goodbye. She'll examine the heady highs of an author's work as well as the harrowing lows when a story struggles to survive. The first two sessions will focus on story generation, cultivating characters, and the fast-paced love affair of the first draft. The second two sessions will delve deeper into the craftwork of plotting, story development, and the hair-tearing marriage between the story and the writer. The final two sessions will explore life after 'The End,' the harsh realities of the publishing industry, and what it takes for a fledgling novel (and author) to make it out there in the real world.
