Gazing into the Looking Glass: An Exploration into Speculative Fiction

With:
Antoinette M. Wiley

What is speculative fiction? What is this genre’s rules, structure, and tropes? Together, we will journey into the unknown, beginning our adventure exploring early speculative works from the 1960’s and time travel to the present. We will also generate speculative work of our own by participating in weekly writing prompts and sharing our works-in-progress. A combination of close reading, class discussion, and generative workshop, this class will empower us to gaze into the looking glass of inspiration to discover what moves us. We will then learn how to use that inspiration to inform our work.
