David Gray will provide an overview of the process of finding the right publisher(s) to solicit for a nonfiction book proposal and making the right pitch. He will talk about doing essential homework on the book business (emphasis on “business”), taking an audience-centric approach to planning your book (instead of a subject-centric approach), attracting the attention of editors, and making your best pitch. Participants will walk away with ideas for shaping your nonfiction book proposal.
David Grayis president of Gray & Company, Publishers, which he founded in 1991. Prior to that he worked in book publishing and book retailing. He is a native of Cleveland and a graduate of Shaker Heights High School and St. Lawrence University. Gray & Co. publishes nonfiction books about Cleveland and Ohio and also provides custom book publishing services.
