About the Presenters
Damien L. Ware is a literary artist who is socially and aesthetically connected to his community. Damien has a Bachelor’s degree in African American Studies and both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work. Damien is a combat veteran, having served as a Military Police officer during Operation Noble Eagle in Baghdad, Iraq. Damien is the co-founder and a member of a Woodland Hills and Buckeye neighborhood based poetry group called the “Griot Project." The mission of the group is to “Uphold the heritage, traditions and culture of the African Diaspora within the literary, visual, and performing arts, through expression, education and community outreach”. Damien’s expository writing has been featured in the Neighborhood Voice and his poetry has been published by the “World Poetry Movement” in an anthology entitled “Stars in our Hearts." He is also creator of the Love Lunes project in Buckeye.
