It's All About Race: Using Poetry to Resist Racism
Sat. 9/22, 10:30a-12p, Cleveland Public Library Learning Commons Room B, 525 Superior Ave, Cleveland OH 44114
When former president Barack Hussein Obama ran for office in 2008, one of his call and response chants at campaign rallies was “It’s not about race, it’s not about race,” even though he knew the opposite was true. This workshop will offer participants an opportunity to critically reflect upon the current social-political climate in the United States, including the effect of race and racism, and to write poems which address the complexity of this issue.
