Lit Cleveland offers community-based classes geared towards helping aspiring and professional writers develop their skills. Topics include literary genres like poetry, fiction and essay writing as well as podcasts, publishing, blogging and others. They typically range from 1-6 sessions and are offered at bookstores and other community locations on the east and west side. We also offer free workshops in partnership with libraries.
A workshop focuses on a specific genre, includes short writing assignments as part of the class and/or assignments between sessions, classroom reading and feedback/critique. There is a fee to attend with the exception of free workshops as part of CPL partnership.
A craft talk focuses on information about writing or the business of writing/publishing and includes presentations by a single speaker or panel discussions.
Conferences are one or more days offering multiple workshops, craft talks, author talks, readings and possibly social gatherings.
Cleveland Inkubator is Northeast Ohio’s largest annual free festival for readers and writers. In 2017, the program was expanded to five days of events. In 2018, the program will take place between Tuesday, July 31st and Saturday, Aug. 4th.
