Tyler is the producer of Take Shelter, The Signal, Lost and Found in Cleveland, and other films, many of which are filmed or set in Northeast Ohio. Join us at Happy Dog Euclid to see Tyler discuss film-making, chat with author James Renner about his experience shooting films in Northeast Ohio, and take questions from the audience.
Tyler Davidson is an award-winning independent film producer, and the president of Low Spark Films, a Cleveland, Ohio based production company. In recent years, he has produced five straight Sundance Film Festival hits, and was named one of Variety’s “10 Producers to Watch.” Davidson is currently in post-production on the Nic Pizzolatto scriptedGalveston, directed by Mélanie Laurent, and starring Ben Foster and Elle Fanning; Jeff Brown’s horror-thriller The Beach House; and an untitled feature documentary on the avant-garde jazz trio Medeski Martin & Wood, directed by Jason Miller. Davidson recently executive produced Dash Shaw’s My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea; and produced Steven Caple, Jr.’s The Land; as well as Sophie Goodhart’s My Blind Brother. Past producing credits include Jeff Nichol’s breakthrough feature Take Shelter, which was nominated for five Independent Spirit Awards and won the Cannes Film Festival Critics’ Week Grand Prix; Craig Zobel’s Compliance; William Eubank’s The Signal; and The Kings of Summer, written by Chris Galletta and directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts.
James Renner was a reporter for Cleveland Scene and the Free Times for several years. He is the author of several true crime books, as well as the novels The Man from Primrose Lane and The Great Forgetting. His latest work is the nonfiction thriller, True Crime Addict. He lives in Akron.
