June's edition of "Between the Lines" features celebrated authors Aubrey Hirsch and Karyna McGlynn! Join us at Happy Dog Euc to see Aubrey and Karyna read from newly published work, discuss their approach to writing, and take questions from the audience. The theme for the evening is "Fierce Females: Writing Badass Women".
About the presenters:
Aubrey Hirsch is the author of Why We Never Talk About Sugar, a short story collection, and This Will Be His Legacy, a flash fiction chapbook. Her stories essays and graphic narratives have appeared in Third Coast, The Rumpus, Black Warrior Review, American Short Fiction, Hobart, The New York Times and elsewhere. She tweets emphatically as @aubreyhirsch.
Karyna McGlynn is the author ofHothouse (Sarabande Books 2017), I Have to Go Back to 1994 and Kill a Girl (Sarabande Books 2009), and several chapbooks. Her poems have recently appeared in The Kenyon Review, Ploughshares, Black Warrior Review, AGNI, Ninth Letter, Witness, and The Academy of American Poet’s Poem-A-Day. Karyna holds an MFA in Poetry from the University of Michigan, and earned her PhD in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Houston where she served as Managing Editor for Gulf Coast. Her honors include the Verlaine Prize, the Kathryn A. Morton Prize, the Hopwood Award, and the Diane Middlebrook Fellowship in Poetry at the University of Wisconsin. She is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Oberlin College, where she teaches poetry, translation, and humor writing.
